Types of land
The terrain type is an important detail to always consider before founding a city. Each terrain has different bonuses/penalties, both attack and defense, as well as growth and production. There are even races such as dwarves or elves that have extra race bonuses if they defend in their favorite terrain. The terrain types and bonuses for each are as follows:

How does the bonuses works?
Attack and defense refers to increasing (or decreasing) those values to the troops you put to defend the city. The same for the population, referring to that it bonuses or penalizes the daily growth of the cities in that terrain.
