History
Elves have never developed the unstable gunpowder technology used by both Dwarves and Humans. In fact, they have never needed it, for their skill as marksmen is such that to place their trust in such weapons would be a detriment to their undisputed mastery of projectile weapons.
Instead, the Elves prefer the war machines that have served their race since the ancestral wars: the repeating rocket launcher.
The Eagle's Claw (or repeating bolt thrower, as it is commonly called) works by means of a twisting counterweight system and as a result the machine fires a long bolt (capped arrow) with great force and accuracy. The bolt thrower is constructed of several layers of stellar wood, which are magically bonded together; it is a machine with great strength and accuracy, which has not been matched by the barbarian weapons of other races. The bolts are launched with such precision that they impale an enemy warrior from hundreds of meters away. In addition, the force of the shot is capable of severely wounding very powerful creatures, if not killing them, and even a single shot can hit several men in a row.
