History
When a Knight Errant has proven his courage and purity beyond all doubt, the Lady of the Lake appears to him in a vision and rewards him not only with an image of the Grail, but with the chance to drink from it. Few are allowed to sip from this ornate silver chalice, the most sacred of Bretonian relics, and only knights of unblemished purity survive the draught of the blessed waters of the lake. Those who drink from the mystical chalice are forever changed, for they are granted a life far longer than any other mortal along with other strange gifts. From that moment on, the knight is entrusted to the service of the Lady and the Grail, a bond that will only be broken by death.
Each White Knight (a name given by the shiny material of their armor) acquires the duty to protect the sacred places of the Lady. These are usually ordinary places: an abandoned chapel, a lake, a grove, but all of them are sacred to the White Knights. When a corrupt creature sets foot in one of these places, he will have to face the terrible fury of the defender of that place, for a white Knight will never abandon the defense of the Lady's lands and will only leave that sacred place in times of great need, having exchanged a life of luxury for one of service. Although some Dukes give up their titles to carry out their quest, many of them decide that there is no better way to guard the Lady's sacred places than by defending the entire land, thus losing neither their titles nor their responsibilities.
